Why verification decides what renters see first
Trust is the default sort order, and bronze is the floor for being visible at all. That is why a badge granted without evidence is not a cosmetic error.
Trust is the default order
Search results are sorted by verification tier first, most verified at the top, and by recency within a tier. A renter can change the sort to newest, cheapest, or lowest move-in cost, but trust is what they get if they change nothing.
Recency is used as the tie-break so that ordering inside a tier is stable. Without it the order is whatever the database happened to return, which changes between page loads and looks broken.
Bronze is the floor for being seen at all
Below bronze there is no ranking question, because the listing is not in the results. The public boundary requires an active listing on a property carrying bronze, silver or gold.
Renters can also filter to a minimum tier, so a bronze listing may be excluded by a renter looking only for gold.
Why this makes an unearned badge serious
A badge is not decoration. It pushes a listing above other people's. A tier granted without its evidence is therefore not a display bug: it is a false claim outranking honest listings, and it is exactly the hole an agent posing as a landlord would climb through.
That is the reason the grant rules are enforced in the database as well as in the review screen, why nobody can decide their own request, and why every check recorded is attributable to the officer who recorded it.
Improving your position honestly
There is one route: complete the checks for the next tier and request it.
- Confirm email and phone, and have your Ghana Card checked — that is bronze
- Add the selfie match and a bank account in your verified name — that is silver
- Arrange an inspection or a video walkthrough for the property — that is gold
- Keep the inspection current, so the check does not lapse and drop out of the count

- Losing a tier, and badges that outrun their evidenceA downgrade always works, even when a check has been withdrawn. Raising a tier back is a reviewed request, never a reversal.
