Losing a tier, and badges that outrun their evidence
A downgrade always works, even when a check has been withdrawn. Raising a tier back is a reviewed request, never a reversal.
A downgrade is always allowed
Granting a tier requires evidence. Taking one away does not, and deliberately so. Being unable to remove a badge is far more dangerous than being unable to give one.
So a downgrade works even — in fact especially — when the evidence no longer supports the tier the account is showing.
What a downgrade requires
Only Domicium staff can change a verification level, and a written reason of at least a sentence is mandatory. The badge is public and it affects ranking, so an unexplained change is indistinguishable from an abuse of the tool.
The change is strictly downward. This route cannot raise a tier; that would be a way to hand out gold with no evidence at all. The reason, the tier it moved from and the tier it moved to are all written to the audit log.
Badges that claim more than the evidence supports
A tier can drift above its evidence without anybody doing anything wrong. A bank account is closed, an ID turns out to be false, a check is withdrawn — and the badge keeps ranking the listing on something that no longer holds.
The platform can calculate the highest tier the evidence on file actually supports and compare it with the tier being shown, which is what makes an overstated badge visible rather than silent.
Getting a tier back
Through a fresh verification request, reviewed in the ordinary way. There is no reversal of a downgrade.
- 1Read the reason recorded with the downgrade.
- 2Put right whatever it names — a bank account in the wrong name, an expired inspection, a document that did not check out.
- 3Ask Domicium to record the check again once it can be evidenced.
- 4Submit a new request for the tier.
While you are downgraded
If the property drops below bronze, its listings leave public view. They are not deleted, and your dashboard still shows them.
A downgrade is not a suspension. The account can still sign in and operate; it is the public claim that has been withdrawn.
