Searching for a home

Every filter search actually has, how the free-text box behaves, and why you can share a search as a link.

What you can filter on

This is the complete list. Anything not here does not exist as a filter.

  • Free text — matched against the title, area, city, region and description.
  • Region — one of Ghana's sixteen regions.
  • Property type — residential, student housing, short-let, office, retail, commercial, warehouse or land.
  • Bedrooms and bathrooms — treated as minimums, so 2 beds returns two and above.
  • Minimum and maximum rent — per month.
  • Total move-in budget, and the most months of advance you will pay.
  • Furnished.
  • Verification tier — bronze, silver or gold, treated as at least this tier.
  • Diaspora-friendly.

How the text box behaves

Every word you type has to appear somewhere in the listing. Searching for east legon 2 bed will not return a property that merely mentions east.

There is no filter for a neighbourhood, so the text box is how you search one. Type Cantonments, Spintex, Airport Residential or Ahodwo and combine it with the other filters.

Sorting

Five orders are available: most verified, newest first, price low to high, price high to low, and cheapest to move in.

The default is most verified, with the newest listing first within a tier. Trust affects ranking, which is the reason a badge cannot be bought — a purchased badge would outrank an honest listing.

A search is a link

The URL holds the whole search. That means you can bookmark a search, send it to someone, and use the back button without losing where you were.

Each active filter shows as a chip you can remove one at a time, and if nothing matches, the empty state offers to drop each filter individually rather than telling you to try again.
