Paying from abroad

Online card and mobile-money payment is not switched on. Bank transfer and cheque are recorded and confirmed by a person — here is what that means for you.

What is not live

Card and mobile-money payment would run through Paystack, and the integration is written, but no key is configured. Until that changes, you cannot complete a payment online here.

Saying so matters more than the feature would. A renter overseas who believes a payment went through the platform, when it did not, is the person a scam is designed for.

What is supported

Payments made outside the platform can be recorded against your tenancy so that the balance, the receipt and the history are all in one place.

  • Bank transfer — recorded, then confirmed against the bank statement. Usually clears in a day or two.
  • Cheque — recorded, counted once it clears. A bounced cheque is rejected.
  • Cash — recorded and confirmed by whoever received it.

Recording is not paying

When you record an offline payment, the platform says so in plain terms rather than showing a Pay button. The entry stays marked as awaiting confirmation, and your balance stays open, until your landlord or manager matches it to money actually arriving.

Once confirmed, the payment produces a receipt, is applied against the oldest outstanding charge, and stays on your tenancy record. A part-payment leaves a correct remaining balance rather than a floating credit.

A payment posts once, keyed on the payment itself rather than on the attempt, so a retry cannot charge you twice.

Protecting yourself while this is the arrangement

Because the money moves outside the platform, the ordinary precautions carry the weight.

  • Do not send anything before the property has been seen in person by you or someone you trust.
  • Send to an account in the name of the verified lister. A bank name that does not match the Ghana Card is one of the signals the platform's own fraud review looks at.
  • Keep the arrangement in platform messages, so there is a record of what was agreed.
  • Record every payment on the tenancy as soon as you make it, and keep your own bank confirmation.
  • Never move the conversation or the payment somewhere else because you are being hurried.
