Your data and your rights
What is held, who else processes it, and the honest limits on deletion under the Data Protection Act 2012.
Who is responsible
Domicium is the data controller for the personal data it holds about you. It operates in Ghana and processes personal data under the Data Protection Act 2012 (Act 843).
What is held
Account details, identity and verification evidence, property and tenancy records, financial records, communications sent through the platform, and technical data such as IP address and pages visited.
Passwords are stored only as a hash. Full card numbers are not stored.
Who else processes it
Third-party processors run parts of the service, and each receives only what it needs.
- Hosting, database and storage.
- The payment provider, which receives card and mobile-money details rather than the platform doing so.
- Email and SMS delivery providers, which receive your address or number and the message.
- A mapping provider, which renders approximate property locations.
- AI providers, where a feature assists with drafting or classification.
Your rights
Under Act 843 you can ask for access to your personal data, correction of anything inaccurate, and deletion. You can also object to processing and ask for it to be restricted.
- 1Write to info@domicium.com describing what you want.
- 2Expect a response saying what will be done and, where something cannot be done, why.
- 3If you are not satisfied, you may complain to Ghana's Data Protection Commission.
The limits on deletion
Accounting entries, audit records and a tenancy history that another party also relies on cannot be deleted. They are records of events rather than profile data about you, and the platform is built so that they cannot be selectively erased.
Suspending an account does not cancel a tenancy, void a debt or stop the books. Money obligations outlive an account status, and conflating the two would turn a suspension into an accidental write-off.
Where deletion is refused, you should be told plainly and told why. The privacy policy sets out the retention position in full.
