How to pay your rent
Which payment methods work today, which do not, and what the platform does with each.
What works today
Payments are made from your tenancy page, against a specific rent instalment or charge.
- Bank transfer — supported. Recorded as a declaration until someone confirms the money arrived.
- Cheque — supported, on the same basis. Counted once it clears.
- Cash — supported, confirmed by whoever received it.
- Credit balance — settles immediately, if credit is held on your tenancy.
Online card and mobile-money payment runs through Paystack, and Paystack is not live: no gateway key is configured. Do not wait for a card option to appear. Use bank transfer or cheque, or agree cash with your landlord.
Making a payment
Payments are recorded against the instalment they settle, so the tenancy always shows what has been paid and what is still outstanding rather than a running total you have to reconcile yourself.
- 1Open your tenancy and find the instalment or charge you are paying.
- 2Choose the method. The page tells you whether that method settles now or has to be confirmed by someone first.
- 3Add the bank or cheque reference if you have one. It is what your landlord matches against their statement.
- 4Submit. A pending declaration appears on both sides until it is confirmed.
The amount is fixed
The amount is read from the instalment or charge on the server, never from the form you submit. You cannot settle a GHS 400 bill by sending GHS 1.
Paying more than is outstanding on a charge is refused, and the message tells you the outstanding figure rather than quietly capping the payment.
Never pay off-platform
Anyone who asks you to move money outside Domicium is removing the only record you would have. Report it.

- Bank transfers, cheques and cash: how they get confirmedTelling the platform you have paid is a declaration, not a payment. Nothing clears until a person matches it to the money.
- Receipts and your payment recordEvery settled payment produces a receipt with a reference, and it stays on the tenancy.
- Credit balances and overpaymentsMoney held on your behalf sits as a credit until it is applied or returned. It is never quietly absorbed into a balance.
- Arrears: how a debt ages, and what followsUnpaid rent and charges age into buckets. The suggested next step is a prompt for a person, not an action the platform takes.
