Bank reconciliation, budgets and fixed assets

Import a statement, match lines to ledger entries, compare budget to actual, and depreciate an asset register that posts.

Bank reconciliation

Statements are imported as files, with an opening and closing balance and a set of signed lines. A line is then matched to the journal entry it corresponds to, and the match records who made it and when.

One journal entry can be matched to one statement line. Attempting to match an entry that is already matched elsewhere is refused, which is what stops the same receipt being reconciled twice.

There are no live bank feeds. Statement import is file-based, so reconciliation happens when you bring the statement in.

Budgets against actuals

Budgets carry a fiscal year and a version, with lines by period and dimension. Actuals come from the same ledger everything else posts to, so a variance is a comparison rather than a reconciliation between two systems.

Forecasts sit alongside budgets in the same shape.

Cash-flow work here is budget versus actual. There is no scenario modelling.

Fixed assets and depreciation

The register holds cost, acquisition date, useful life, residual value and accumulated depreciation, optionally against a property.

Depreciation is straight-line and charges whole months since the last posting, capped at the remaining depreciable amount. It debits depreciation and credits accumulated depreciation, and it is idempotent per asset and month, so running it again charges nothing.

Where to find it

All of this lives in the advanced finance area, alongside the tax position, foreign-currency exposure and the revaluation history.
